Can Fortnite accounts be merged, so to speak?

I'm a fortnite player. For some time now I've been playing on the PC and back then it was customary to start with a fresh account.

However, my first few times I played on the console. And now I've seen that you can link your accounts.

However, I already have an account on which I can make more progress in the game.

If I now link my PS4 Network account to my current account, what exactly will happen? Do I have the skins from my PS4 on my current account, including the ones I had before? Or how exactly does it work or what happens then?

Crossplay / crossshare does not work.

You can't merge your two accounts. That went on for a while, but it was abolished as it drove up account trading.
