My Fortnite account has been scammed. Somebody wrote to me at instgram if I was interested in a Fortnite account. I said yes and gave him 20 euro paysafe. Then suddenly I would be blocked. I have screenshots of the chat and of the profile. Can I go to the police and report him?
Sure you can, but it will certainly not work.
Yes, you can go to charges, but I don't think it will bring you anything
You can show yes, but it will not lead to anything.
Book that rather than halfway expensive apprenticeship money, the lawyer for it will be much more expensive.
The next time just don't go into that nonsense.
You can do it, but it won't do anything…
Why can I report them or the police can locate them
If you have real personal data then yes. Locations will hardly be an option.
It doesn't just work that way, please watch less TV, certain requirements have to be met and yours is not particularly important enough to make such an effort
The police could locate it, but they won't. The damage and the offense are far too little for such an effort.
But what if he scammed others? And from how many euro would it be worth it?
Because of 20 euro it won't even go to court.
What use is the profile if it is not real data?
But don't even show?
Again, it's not worth the effort for 20 euro, you are basically your own fault for having entered into it, no one forced you or stood behind you with the baseball bat.
But clearly you can show but as I said, the police won't open a barrel because of that.
What should you locate there? Triangulate the profile? Uff.
Instagram has to take part at a high level and they usually don't even do that with serious crimes.
The IP and e.g. Instagram are obliged to help the authorities. Not with all things, of course, but with serious crimes. Where did you get the nonsense that Instagram wouldn't do that?
Nobody said you can't display. You can always do that, even if it's not a crime at all. A report is only the means to report a criminal act, or an alleged criminal act.
Should I go to the police anyway? What does she do then? Do I get in trouble because I did it?
No. They are not.
Such internet services only need to act if there's a court order. They do not and do not have to just give data to the authorities.
And they don't lift a finger if it's not a court order.
What? Because of what? You haven't committed a crime.
They record the complaint, listen to what is on your mind and then pass it on to the public prosecutor. They will then stop because of insignificance or because the perpetrator can't be identified.
In the case of serious crimes, a court order is absolutely no problem, so your testimony is utter nonsense.
You claimed that the companies are obliged to cooperate with the authorities. This is nonsense, I contradicted it and declared that a court order is necessary at all.
So it doesn't depend on the gravity of the crime, and companies don't care if it's difficult, easy or moderate. They will only take part if it is an advantage to them or if a court order is available. If nobody is there, then they won't take part.
Incidentally, courts are not authorities.
