Playing high priority games is dangerous?

Since I have high CPU usage and fps drops (in Fortnite), I want to set the priority to high, but I do not know if that is the case, for example. Harmful to my hardware or something could be.

tu

This is not harmful, but it does not bring much

Il

Would you have more or less CPU usage?

mo

It usually brings nothing and is not harmful.

Ev

Should not be harmful.

But that should be done automatically at the start of the game. Otherwise it can happen that your Windows becomes eternally slow if you do this manually and then wander through the whole windows of non-prioritized processes until you have Fortnie in focus.

Ev

Same thing, because nothing consumes more or less CPU.

Il

Any fps boost or something, because everyone suggests this with an FPS boost

Il

Would you vielleviht an answer to this problem?

The problem started with me even 3 days ago because I changed my graphics card 3 days ago (from a GTX 950 to a GTX 1050 mini mini) since then it started with the fps drops.

So I have in the menu when I'm running and other CPU usage of about 70-80%, but as soon as I start to build, then the CPU usage is at 100% and I have fps drops from (capped fps up 120) 120fps to 60-80fps and you can feel it right and so I can't play sensible.

The problem I have only in Fortnite, in e.g. GTA, csgo is not the case

What I've already done: Windows 10 booted, drivers reinstalled with DDU, bios resettet and everything is up to date

GPU: GTX 1050 mini mini 4GB

CPU: I5 7400 3.0GHz

Ram: 8GB

Ev

I can't say it.

I would just give it a try.

In general, I would tend to "No", because FPS yes GraKa dependent and which the CPU priority is relatively no matter.

Ev

1.) Have you ever tried to reinstall the games?

2.) Are the game settings the same?

3.) Do you use GForce Experience to "optimize" the games? If so, then you should uninstall this, because this verweislig exactly the opposite of optimize.

Il

I have the lowest graphics settings and have already installed the game 2 times nine

tu

Fps are more dependent on the graphics card, but that does not mean that the cpu does not matter.

Otherwise, I could simply install a cpu from 2005 and would have the same power as for example a 9900k

Ev

What could also be that your GraKa is not recognized and therefore the games use the CPU or the motherboard GraKa.

In the Nvidea Control Panel, you can turn on an info icon, which will show you in the info menu in the task bar which processes are currently using your GraKa.

You can also choose the standard graka there.

Ev

If the game is well programmed, the FPS number should be relatively independent.

Possibly. Even higher with a bad GPU, as it does not lag behind with the Physix and sends the same frames several times.

Il

Where exactly is the info symbol?

The graphics card is already recognized, since I can play more fluently in other games than with the GTX 950 and in dxdiag I'm also the GTX 1050ti displayed

Il

But when I updated the drivers, I did the Express installation and did not do the custom installation, is that right?

tu

Optimization may help, but better hardware will always provide more performance than worse ones.

Take a look at this example:

Same gpu other CPUs

Ev

So this is limited to individual games…

Since you would have to find the similarities.

The info icon is, if enabled in the Nvidia Control Panel under "Desktop" → "GPU activity icon" in the task bar on the far right of the pull-down menu.

Ev

I do not know.

Try the custom and choose the function to completely reinstall the driver.

Then restart your PC.

Ev

However, better hardware will always provide more performance than worse ones.

That goes without saying. It was only about the fact that the FPS may not suffer so badly under bad CPU, if the game is programmed accordingly.

Il

It is so far only in Fortnite Sun, but that was not the case with the GTX 950

Ev

Hm…

So the inet says Fortnite just makes it stupid.

I would try to contact their support. Can't be that a better GraKa causes problems.

What you can also look at is whether other games that run with the Unreal Engine 4 cause similar problems.

In that case I would create here or in another forum a new Thread, which asks for the reasons.

Il

I have e.g. In PUBG also high CPU utilization

Ev

PUBG should generally be programmed very poorly. But may be an indication, if that was not so before.

I need to go offline now. Be sure to read your posts as soon as they come, at the earliest tomorrow.

Il

Yeah thanks
