Fortnite: Why am I playing on the North American (East) server?

Since I recently updated the game, I suddenly play on the North American (EAST) server.

I play now with a 150 -271 ping instead of normal white with 16 - 30 ping.

And when I turn back to Europe, I get a 518 ping.

Why that suddenly?

I can't really play Fortnite without a 1-2 second delay and that hampers me playing.

Does anyone know how to fix it?
