A shop assistant told me that you have to be a member to play Fortnite but my friends say otherwise 😕 should I buy or not?
You do not need to be a member. The saleswoman probably means the pass, which is totally voluntary.
If you play on console you have to pay depending on the manufacturer of the console a premium multiplayer (online) to be able to play.
I would not buy Fortnite myself because I do not care about the game.
Fortnite is free, you do not need to buy anything. Just download and ready.
The saleswoman has no idea.

You do not need any card either on the console or on the PC everything is free of charge you do not need a PS plus (playstation) on the PC you just have to download it via the epic games launcher
