HDD suddenly slow?

Hi

I have the problem that my HDD hard drive is very slow during games. This is most noticeable in Fortnite, but it is also very easily noticed in games like R6 or Apex legends. In Fortnite it is very bad, everything loads soo long, most of all the map and the most important thing, 2 MONTHS ago it was NOT THAT. I had taken a break from gaming for 1-2 months and then it was not so with the store.

I know everyone will say put that in the SSD, but my SSD has only 118GB and with windows I somehow only have 80GB free and Fortnite alone takes 80GB.

Could it help if I format my HDD?

Or can I update my HDD somehow?

Or what can that be, how can I fix it?

Da

I don't think it's because of the media. What processor and how much RAM do you have?

Le

Fortnite is just too fat with unnecessary elements, that's why I haven't played since season 6.

There are much better games than Fortnite

So it's probably not your HDD but Fortnite

Il

I5 7400 and 16gb ram

Il

It wasn't like that two months ago

Le

Two months ago it was still season 1 chapter 2 as far as I know

Yes

Turn off all programs in the background (if there are any) So it can't be due to the technical issues. Do you also have a reasonable graphics card?

Try other games, maybe Fortnite needs a patch.

Le

What are you playing in FN? Creative mode or Battle Royale? Or are you someone original and play RDW?

Il

Yes, I have always had all background programs and as I said in other games it is also less so not as blatant as in Fortnite

Il

In Kreati it is not that bad but in Battle Royale it is so unplayable and besides that I already have 3000 hours of play so I'm going towards competitive but I can't play anymore

Da

What do you define as long loading and slow games? Explain the problem in more detail

Il

So, I'm talking e.g. Not from loading screens, but, the world loads for a very long time, so the textures don't load at all, so that I can't even go into a house. Then load e.g. The display of the items in the inventory for a very long time and with all these problems my FPS drops to 50fps from 120. As soon as the loading of everything is done the FPS rise slowly, but it takes a long time

Da

Is your graphics card from AMD or Nvidia?

Il

Nvidia, by the way, I've added pictures above

Da

Am I correct that your download is only 5 Kb / s?

Il

Yes, but that is not the download, it is something different, for others who have good ping, it is at 10-12kb / s

Da

Umm So I think you have wrong ideas about internet speed. 1000 Kb / s is 1 Mb / s

And 1 Mbs alone is very little. I'm very sure it is because of your internet. Try to play with a LAN cable, do not use the WLAN for gaming.

Il

But that is not the meaning of download, I do 6mb / s for downloads and I know that 1000kb are 1mb

A very old method of getting an HDD up and running would be to defragment.

But that's just an optimization that can only make relatively limited improvements. But "small cattle" can also mess up…

Otherwise, it may help if you take a closer look at the existing hardware setup. Maybe something can be optimized here.

What does your setup look like?

If you have a lavish ram configuration, you could use it as a cache part of the ramdisk and thus partially speed up the system. And also cushion certain load peaks.

Otherwise it can also help if you clean up the BS thoroughly and dispose of all unnecessary "garbage" or uninstall it.

Perhaps too many programs start at the start that use up unnecessary resources.

Of course, that's a lot of stuff that would have to be worked through.

And hardware that is fundamentally too weak can't become a rocket.

At some point you have to upgrade something. But then please with sense and understanding.

I think creative is a garrys mod copy XD
