I want to buy my son a PC.

Is this PC still usable to play Fortnite and some newer games? And how much should it cost at most?

CPU: I5 2500K So.1155

Mainboard: Asus P8H67-M Pro So.1155

Memory: 2 x 4GB RAM DDR3

Corsair H80 AIO water cooling (CPU)

Lite-on HES 112 combo drive, BlueRay, DVD burner

Graphics card: MSI 960 GTX 2GB

SSD hard drive: Toshiba 128GB

Housing: Xigmatek Midgard with 3 pre-installed fans (2 x orange, 1 x blue)

Power supply: Tagan Piperock 500 watts

It is not currently. For Fortnite and co. But that's enough.

A fair price for this would be around 150-200 euro. You should also get a 1TB hard drive (approx. 30 euro new, 35 euro for a Toshiba P300) because the PC has very little memory (128GB).

How much should it cost?

Si

Not a good or current CPU and little memory, but Fortnite can be played on it. But not games like Cyberpunk 2077 or newer.

Jo

Thanks for the information. It's supposed to cost 200 euro.

Bo

The hardware is relatively old. But it should be enough for Fortnite. But I doubt that there will be new games on it. Possibly on the lowest graphic.

I bring all the prices together again and then list them so that here is a picture if one would want to recreate it. Just as a comparison.

Costs:

CPU + mainboard + RAM → 60-100 euro (high price range depending on the mainboard)

Graphics card → 2GB models = 55 euro, 4GB models = 75-100 euro

SSD → 15 euro

Housing ~ 20-30 euro (something comparable).

Power supply 15-20 euro

Overall, you would be in the best case. At 165 euro with a 2GB GTX 960.

In the most expensive case at 265 euro with a 4GB GTX 960.

Mo

It is no longer up-to-date, in my opinion it should already be 16GB RAM more important but the graphics card and CPU are very old and can no longer keep up

The setup is no longer up-to-date. Fortnite runs smoothly on it. Other current titles are playable on low settings and HD resolution too.

The thing is definitely not worth more than 200 euro. 150 euro would be a good deal here.
