I have the following problem.
On my laptop (Dell Inspiron 5570) all my games (Gta5, Fortnite, All my Steam games, etc.) keep crashing! The funny thing is that I only reinstalled Windows a few days ago and that all games ran without problems.
I would be happy if someone can help me!
Details about my laptop:
Intel Core i5-8250U
AMD Radeon 530
32 Gb Ram
1Tb ssd
Did you also install all the necessary drivers when you reinstalled? Windows also installs operational drivers, but these are usually months old.
Yes, I have, there's a tool from Dell specially for this
Did you also check whether Dell is installing the latest drivers? I would never trust such programs directly. Dear the manufacturers of the hardware (i.e. AMD) :)
At AMD I have the Adrenalin software that is directly from Amd
Very nice, it's very warm at the moment, is your laptop excessively hot? Are the coolers free when you gamble, i.e. Have you increased your laptop so that there's also plenty of air?
Yes, I bought an extra cool stand
Just that you know: I think you know what you're talking about but just to rule out that you have installed Windows 64-bit again? I'm slowly running out of ideas.
Yes of course
I would be new to why that should happen now, but there's probably an incompatibility between BIOS and the new Windows version 2004 https://www.dell.com/...-p/7356241
Also try GPU Sheduling (or Planning) on or off in the display settings.
The problem only appeared since you reinstalled the operating system?
Which version did you have before and which do you use now?
Was it completely reinstalled or just upgraded?
Do the games just close without an error message?
Unfortunately you do not write how these crashes manifest themselves. Does an error message appear, does a blue screen appear, does the display freeze?
As a first remedy, I would definitely check whether I might have installed outdated drivers. Or I would install the latest drivers from the hardware manufacturer (if they are offered there) instead of the standard Windows driver.
At Dell (and also other manufacturers) it is important to take the drivers from their homepage. The drivers are specially adapted so that the system runs stably.
This is especially true for chip and GPU drivers.
The general sauce drivers from Intel, Nvidia, and AMD tend to be poor choices.
Have your games ever run or have you only recently had the problem?
Think about it, it's hot outside, so there's hardly any air to cool off… The Lappi also gets hot and needs cooling… But there's no - consequently the crash occurs…
That's my explanation, if it worked before…
The temperatures have stayed the same and I also have an extra laptop cooler
The display freezes in Steam games and the error message err_gfx_d3d_init appears on GTA 5
Drivers are all up-to-date from the manufacturer
I updated all drivers with Dell Support assist
I already had the problems before the new installation! And it was a completely new installation! And all games close without error message except Gta5 (err_gfx_d3d_init)
Have you used the RAM for a few minutes to see if it could cause crashes? If so, with what?
In any case, I recommend Memtest (as an executable ISO)
http://memtest.org/#downiso
This allows you to test the RAM before starting Windows.
No, I haven't yet, but it won't be because I have had the RAM for two years and all the games ran through it
But that doesn't say much about the state of the RAM. It might just be specific address ranges that cause problems. This can also only happen when the respective area is "overwritten" etc. But in the end it is of course up to you. But it would help to exclude the component.
Below you write that you are using the AMD driver… Maybe I misunderstood that.
Officially from Amd
Ok how do I do such a test?
Yes, that's right, Dell Support assist downloads the amd Adrenalin software
So, answer to my first question?
What did you do in between when they were still running.
Note: the error is always in front of the system, not in it…
Measure the temperatures during the game…> HWInfo64
I did that with the MSI Afterburner… The same temperature as when the games were still running 90 ° C (I know this is too high)
I did the test. No errors were found
Then continue troubleshooting.
Did you install Steam directly after the reinstallation and then test the games? So that no other software or possibly its driver can represent a source of error?
Yes, that time was yesterday
Hmm… That's pretty strange.
Steam was also reinstalled and not started from another hard drive?
If the RAM works, so does the CPU, if there's no software or driver that could be a problem, then I would almost guess a defective graphics card. You are not using custom or modded firmware on the graphics card?
Did you overclock the CPU or the RAM in the BIOS?
Nothing is overclocked use everything as standard and everything is reinstalled
Then test the graphics card with a buddy with the same games.
If it works there, the mainboard could still be a possible source of error. Either way, sooner or later you run out of ideas (without being there yourself).
I still have an integrated graphics unit with which I tested it. The result was that all games worked (but much worse fps)
Perhaps the drivers of both graphics units are interfering with each other. Can't you deactivate the integrated graphics in the BIOS?
I don't know how to do that, it's something special
Which mainboard do you have?
DELL 0DRPKR
So this is my mainboard
Much too high, so my answer from above applies again completely…
That means that the Graka driver has crashed…
If you do this too often, your graphics card will die completely…
You have a heat problem, believe me…
How do I get the cooler temperatures? I've already replaced thermal paste and got a laptop cooling stand. What shall I do
Wait until it's not 40 degrees outside…
Or water cooling… But since that's not possible with a laptop, don't play and have fun outside by the lake.
Why do you think real gaming laptops are equipped with clever cooling.
Did you, when you replaced the thermal grease, make sure that everything is correctly seated again when you reassemble it…
The way I read it, you always have temperatures that are way too high… The fan must be turning dizzy…
To me that sounds like (hot weather) bad heat transfer from the processor to the cooler…
I checked everything again and applied new thermal paste. After that everything was as before.
Then I came up with the idea of simply leaving out the back of the case. So the cooling pad directly cools the components now I'm no longer at just under 100 ° C but at around 78 ° C. Jazz all games are running perfectly again
It's still really hot, it kills the processor faster than you would like… Maybe not now, but Lappi will be through in a year
Just for information, laptop CPUs can handle that and I'm talking about the temperature under load in idle, which is almost 40 ° C
I also know what I'm talking about.
Instead of thermal paste, I have liquid metal between the processor and the cooler.
And I already have a lot of experience because of the warmth… After all, I'm no longer a child…
But go ahead, your parents must be rich…
Why do you mean now that I'm still a child? It doesn't matter, anyway, I can only include my experiences in my opinion.
Here again a little proof of my statement:
https://praxistipps.chip.de/...sors_48936
However, you are right with your statement that the service life of the CPU is shortened, but not to one year
All right, Chip.de… Well, it doesn't matter…
