Same number of FPS despite poorer resolution?

I have component issues (as you can see from other questions). I bought a new GPU and have hardly any differences from the other, although that really can't be. Now I've tried something: As an example, I've played Fortnite in Full HD 1920x1080. Had about 100-130 FPS. Then I set the resolution to HD 1280x720 and "only" had 100-130. Usually I should have a lot more than I had in my old one. What could bottlenecks or slow down?

GPU: KFA2 GTX 1660 SUPER

CPU: Ryzen 5 1600

RAM: 8 GB (2x4 GB) DDR4 HyperX Fury

Mainboard: B350 Tomahawk MSI

If you know what is slowing down, I would be happy about an alternative. (maximum 175 euro)

How fast is your RAM is probably a combination of RAM and CPU bottleneck

Ba

Load up MSI Afterburner and check the load.

Pa

Okay thanks.

Pa

I thank you!

Pa

Write my result right away

Pa

So after the test: my GPU was mostly below 50% now and then at 60% and 1-2 times up to 85%. My CPU was almost always over 50% mostly between 55-65%

Ba

Which resolution which game?

Pa

Full hd, fortnite

Ba

You want to know what your bottleneck is, you should use your PC to full capacity.

Are you at Fortnite VSYNC?

Basically, neither of them is fully utilized

Pa

No, so vsync out. My cpu is higher all the time, but can try it again tomorrow in other games (gta, r6). Then send you the values

Ba

Check out what power setting you have and how high the CPU is running.

Pa

I'll write to you tomorrow. Had to shut down my computer now (I'm 15 and have to go to school xd) but cpu would have to clock to about 3,400 mhz and energy to "something like fastest performance"

What does the ryzen5 say about your RAM, is it supported?

For me it looks more like you are outsourcing CPU and slowing it down.

Pa

Okay, thank you for the answer

Ul

I would say that the Ram does not support or is not "compatible".

The CPU outsources.

mi

The game Fortnite is not so technically optimized anyway, so your CPU will be the brake.

You could switch to Ryzen 3600 after the bios update, so that you achieve 30% more FPS, so then 130-170.

There may still be game settings that relieve the CPU, which you can reduce.

The resolution can remain, this is only relevant for the graphics card. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Pa

Okay thanks! So I should change my cpu because it seems to slow down. This is not only the case in fortnite with the resolution in r6 eg

Pa

Ok then

mi

Yes exactly, so if the 100 FPS is not enough for youโ€ฆ

But also test FullHD with low settings, that could also relieve the CPU. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Pa

Have my RAM OC. Now I have a maximum of 210 fps lol xD instead of the maximum 150 fps

mi

Well so what? ๐Ÿ˜€ Didn't you write below that you had already activated XMP? Therefore I thought that you would have been using the top speed of RAMS for a long timeโ€ฆ

How much MHZ did the RAM run before and after? ๐Ÿ˜Š
