I have had the problem for a while that my picture goes black and the fans turn up. At first, the problem only happened with complex games like COD or Fortnite.
Now it's getting worse and worse. Now it even happens when I'm surfing things like Rocket League, Minecraft or just surfing the Internet.
I've looked a lot on the internet and seen many with the same problem. I've tried pretty much everything I've found. How to completely delete drivers and reinstall them or check the cables in the PC.
I have an RTX 2070, Ryzen 5 2600, MSI B450 PRO-VDH, Pure Power 11500 W. I really have no idea what that can be. Hope to get back to you soon
The very first question I would ask myself would be which fans are turning on. All? CPU and case? Just the graphics card?
Depending on that, you already have a direction in which you have to determine. But I spontaneously type either on mainboard error or graphics card. Probability 50/50. Because your description that this was initially more for computer-intensive games speaks for Graka, but if the board turns up all the fans (case and CPU), then something does not fit the board - it only does this in an emergency to protect the hardware.
The crucial question is then whether the power supply fluctuated because the power supply unit messed up. I would definitely run monitoring programs, preferably those that log live to a file. Then you can check later whether any values (temp, voltage, etc.) behave strangely shortly before the black screen.
I once had the phenomenon that my VCore CPU voltage plummeted after 20-30 minutes. At first it was always stable at 1.60V, then slowly dropped towards 1.4V, I could really watch it happen in the monitoring - and 2 seconds later my board made an emergency restart. At that time it helped me to raise the VCore voltage slightly in the BIOS to 1.65V. Then everything remained stable. Just mentioned as an example of how minor voltage problems can have a major impact.
Next time I'll have to see if all the fans turn up.
I also think that it has something to do with the graphics card or the cables on the graphics card, because the picture only crashes and I can still talk to friends when I'm in Discord.
I will definitely try the monitoring programs.
It is also interesting that a few days ago, when the error happened 3 times that day, I completely reinstalled my driver and since then it has happened much less often (only once in a week).
The graphics card does not overheat, by the way, because the temperatures are always between 50 when surfing and at most 70 when I'm gaming.
And thanks for the quick reply
So really just the picture gone. Ok - good info. Then I think more of the graphics card. Yes, watch carefully whether it's just the graphics card's fans that spin up the next time it happens.
The temps you say are completely ok, although that doesn't mean that they are as soon as the bug happens (you don't see it anymore). It could be that some process in the graphics card is producing an endless loop and the GPU is constantly under load.
Did you overclock the graphics card? MSI Afterburner or something?
Sometimes it can also help to slightly slow down the graphics card so that it runs properly again. You don't have to lose a lot of power.
Just had the problem again. Can't say exactly, but it looked more like the graphics card was turning up.
At least that sounds logical. Picture loss, but the PC continues to run in the background while the graphics card spins up. It runs into some kind of endless loop.
That could just be a hardware error that is getting worse and worse, or only software-related. Will be difficult to narrow down if deleting and reinstalling Treiebr didn't help,
Completely reinstalling Windows, or connecting the graphics card to another PCIe slot (if one is available), reducing power guzzlers in order to curb any voltage problems caused by the power supply, or even deliberately downclocking the GPU, everything can help.
It depends on what you are trying to do to address the problem.
The easiest would be to test the graphics card in another PC or a different graphics card in your PC. Just to see if the problem "migrates" or not.
All right!
I have one question about moving the graphics card. Does every slot have the same performance? So I don't have a worse performance on another slot?
And I've already reinstalled Windows, I'll try the one with the slot and if that doesn't help I'll buy a new graphics card with a return guarantee if that doesn't solve the problem.
Can, doesn't have to.
Depending on the board you have different PCIe slots. Some have more express lanes than others. Do you often recognize the PCIe x16 or PCIe x8 by the markings, whether they are 16 lanes or 8. Of course, more lanes are better. Even high-performance graphics cards hardly use all of the lanes and the loss of performance can be magical.
Take a look at your board specs anyway, or the labels on the slots. Maybe you have 2 equals anyway.
Today I took a closer look are definitely only the fans on the graphics card.
I have now found out that it is only the fans on the graphics card. Means that the problem is with the graphics card or it can still be with the mainboard or power supply. Because if it's pretty safe graphics card I'll buy a new one.
