My son started with Fortnite on a borrowed PS4 and has come a long way and already has some "sins" (no idea what that is) … Now the PS4 is gone again and he is getting a switch for Christmas. How can he pick up where he left off on PS4?
Without digging too deep into consoles and Fortnite, it is usually the case that the accounts (and thus also the game progress) are tied to a platform.
i.e. The Fortnite account from the Playstation only works on the Playstation. The one from the switch only goes on the switch.
Skins can only be transferred from one account / platform to the other in the rarest of cases.
Your son should have an Epic Games Acc, which is tied to the Fortnite ACC. That means he can log into the switch with it and continue playing with the same progress.
