What brings a Fortnite clan?

I keep seeing: fortnite clan looking for member, or something like that. Does a clan bring something? Respectively. What is a clan for?

A clan is there to showcase their skill to the "community" if you yourself do not have the reach to prove your skill.

A clan is good for attracting attention and maybe against other clans. But I do not see much meaning in it because you can play with your friends as well.
