I recently wondered what about games like Fortnite e.g. It is important for the ping (download or upload). So I wanted to share the question with you and see if anyone has an answer.
Both is important. Download that you see enemies and upload that you are not lying.
Sometimes a little upload can be good. For example: I played Minecraft and I didn't fall into anything, but because of the upload I was teleperted again.
Both are equally important. On the one hand, your computer must send your game information to the server and at the same time receive the information from the server with the status of all players.
The ping has nothing to do with that. You can have a 2 gigabit line and still have a lousy ping while someone is playing with ISDN without any problems.
The amount of data that is transferred for a typical multiplayer title is tiny. Usually only a few kilobytes per second. Even a throttled smartphone could almost provide the required performance. That's not the reason.
The ping is simply the delay that arises due to the distance from user to server. If you are connected to a server that is operated in Frankfurt or Cologne, for example, this is something completely different than when the data first has to be sent to North America, Seattle or Taiwan via an overseas cable. The larger distance ensures the corresponding latency which is measured as a ping.
Your internet connection can have an impact on the stability of this connection, but it doesn't matter in terms of speed.
A high bandwidth is not required for gaming only, if you are limited by it, then you lay endlessly.
The ping is the latency, an optical fiber connection to the router will reduce the ping the most, or a very close server.
Both are equally important without upload, no download and without download, no upload. If one is missing, you can't gamble.
Therefore, both are always important
The ping shows the time required for data processing. If you have a 0 ping there's no delay with the standard ping of the switch namely 30 the switch has a 30 millisecond delay which is sometimes enormous. It is therefore important to have a good ping. Because if a switch player (ping 30) plays against a PC player (ping 0), the PC almost always wins because there's no delay and he therefore has the opportunity to take advantage of it. Even if the PC player is actually worse than the switch player, the ping gives him a better chance.
