I recently bought a PC for better gaming performance. Now I wanted to download Fortnite from the Epic Games Launcher. The problem is that our Wi-Fi is not very good. Means that after 12 hours of download we had achieved 8%. Which I find very little for the time. Now I wanted to ask if it is worth buying / using a LAN cable for the download. It would be nice if the Fortnite download was finished in about a day. Would a LAN cable purchase be worthwhile and would it significantly speed up the download?

Cables are generally less susceptible to interference than radio. Therefore a cable connection is always advisable if possible.
Whether the download rates increase depends on what the bottleneck is. If the internet connection is too slow, it doesn't help. If the brake is Wi-Fi, then yes.
If in doubt, you can exchange it and things don't cost the world. It never hurts to have a LAN cable at home. This allows z. B. Finding faults in the Internet connection more easily than using WLAN.
