Why is my Xbox one controller on PC not responding to fortnite?

I bought a new xbox one controller today and found that I can't use it with fortnite even though I connected it to the PC. What should I do?

You should try to use it differently on the pc e.g. Electric wire

Try it with a cable, I'm not using Bloethooth with the PS4 controller. Otherwise check the Fortnite Settings
