Was it Fortnite who made it so floppy?
Much. Rewind just started out as something like introducing the most successful videos / youtubers of the year or something. This is more and more used for advertising, there was even a Twitch Streamer in there, if I'm right in the middle. Pewdiepie was not there, as were other important Youtubers. This one fight between KSI and Logan. There was just a lot missing and Youtube used the video for advertising. That was just bad.
Look on Youtube, as explain a few why it was so bad. The guy was there, too, if I remember correctly:

I think it simply lacks the flair of a YouTube Rewinds. At that time I looked at it for the mashup of the songs and it was more like a music video. Now it looks like a children's show or something… Has not much to do with the actual intention for me. And the choice of songs I find synonymous not quite understandable.
1) Pewdiepie (Felix Kjelberg 77MILLIONS SUBS) & co. (The TOP League) was NOT there
2) BUT AN FK TWITCH STREAMER ("Ninja") IS DRINKING? WTF
3) MOST OF YOU KNOW NO HUMAN
4) ONE MORE THAN HALF YEAR HALF YEAR HAS NOT GIVEN SINGLE LIBERTARES FROM YT (No uploads since 8 months or so)
5) K-pop? Really now? K-E-Y P-O-P?!
6) (As already mentioned) looks like a very cringy kids series. (The Wild Guys? Anybody?
7) No soul in it, only advertising, in addition very bad and thoughtlessly (the workers there certainly worked very hard, the heads of those, which had the control, not really).
8) (main point) It was worlds away from the YT "ideology", out of touch with those who formed this platform, in good times and in bad times, and immense distance from the audience… They just did what they called YT were and only made it so that it is ticked off…

I do not know, but the video last year I thought was great and it was without him. (I have not noticed him actively in the video during the last years)
Yes, because I do not know, but does not every streamers have a Youtube and Twitch account? Only on the edge

Youtube and the Youtuber live by advertising, so you can understand that somewhere synonymous.
I have to be very honest. If it had been such a hyper-colorful music video again, it would not have mattered. But here it was just too much talk.
2) Almost every person has a YT account. Only the full-time Youtuber are not there, but a streamer of another platform, the way a YT Acc. Has, because he too no longer lives in a cave… But only because of it
3) Well, there are usually no people with worldwide acquaintance, but nevertheless their audience is usually quite large…
4) No idea, but Pi-Mal-Diggen-thumb is not a good person. The "inactive 9 months" clause should be correct.
7) Joa, we've just been spoiled by good content makers and expect to get everything for good content from all the Youtubers, putting money second, which of course most people are not willing to deliver - in the end. The world is well known to be evil (or according to evolutionary theory so the "evil" people have made more babies than the good ones…)
8) Yes, no chatty, short and crisp music video (no matter what) would have been right. There are still many of those opinions.
9) Was nice to chat with an intelligent and cosmopolitan individual, fanboy zombie or WirMuessen had expected all mutinous mutants…
