If you have the same phone you're probably playing too much fortnite and your phone overheats and Fortnite might be on the hook because of your connection

The free internal memory has no or no major impact when playing.
PUBG and Fortnite need a bit of power, and the graphics settings are probably at maximum. (Almost) every smartphone gets warm or even hot. That should also make iPhones sweat.
The processor is no longer behind, among other things by the heat, and shows this with poor performance.
You should go back to the graphics settings. Then it should work better.
