I'm really stuck here.
I got the file "EpicInstaller-10.17.0.msi" directly from the official homepage. I had previously installed the Launcher and Fortnite. I uninstalled both in the normal way using Add / Remove Programs. My operating system is Windows 10.
As you can see from the first screenshot, the installer automatically inserts C: \ Program Files (x86) \ Program Files (x86) \ Program Files (x86) \ Epic Games, even if I change the path. When I select my second hard drive D: I get D: \ Program Files (x86) \ Epic Games. However, it can be seen from screenshots 2 and 3 that the installation process fails here. Everything runs until the Direct X installation, followed by the rollback and the error message that the installation has failed. 40GB are available on C: and 60GB on D:. I'm logged in as an administrator and other installations work perfectly.
I have already set all permissions as full access, confirmed the installation as administrator and deleted the remaining files from AppData / Lokal / Epic Games. Remnants of a previous installation were also removed in the registry editor (keys with Epic Games in the name). Unfortunately, everything was unsuccessful.
I don't know what else to try to solve the problem. I hope someone can help me.
Sincerely yours,
Yanic
Make your PC to factory settings
The PC is also used for work, everything else works perfectly. Only this installation causes problems, it doesn't make sense to set up the whole system again.
Reinstall Windows Attention! All programs will be lost!
It is clear to me that every problem is resolved with a new Windows installation. However, since the PC is also used for self-employment and many important programs are installed, a new installation because of ONE program is not worthwhile. Especially since no other problem arises.
Here are some tips from Epic Games
Thanks for the link, of course I have already called it up and have already carried out all the steps as described above. Any googling didn't help either, I didn't find a comparable error. System is up-to-date and fast as an arrow, think it is due to a faulty uninstall behavior from the launcher from back then or somehow to Direct X (although I already have the latest version).
Maybe look for an older installer and install it
Im currently facing the same problem. Since you had this problem more than a year ago, I wonder if you somehow managed to solve the problem, and if you have I'd be greatful if you helped me solve it too.
