Fortnite is so hated that I had to change my profile picture because I was titled as fortnite kiddy the whole time, it's a shame I don't play the game set for 1 year, it was always a lot of fun for me back then, so if you don't like fortnite please write it as an answer.
Because nowadays only almost young children play this game. I also played it for 3 years and I was there from the beginning the game came out in 2017 but since then it has turned into bad every game gets out after a few years the hype goes away
The old generation of gamers can't understand the success of the game. Popular things are also always hated. From boy bands to video games.
Fortnite in itself is a good game, only the game was put into a bad light by the too young community.
So you think it's gotten worse and as mentioned in many answers because of the toxic kiddies it is kind of a shame.
But if you like it I wouldn't let it spoil me.
The community consisting of many annoying children and 14 year old wannabe professionals, many bad decisions from Epic Games and something like the Travis Scott concert don't go down well with everyone.
I've played it myself for a long time, around since Season 2. Could have made a better game. They shouldn't have added the playground mode, so everyone could practice without end and there were many more tryhards.
