Why doesn't Fortnite work smoothly?

I have a problem… I recently downloaded Fortnite on a Windows laptop. But I have noticed that the game does not run smoothly, e.g. When editing or building, it always takes until it reacts (I can never quickly place a wall) and it is not due to the Wi-Fi, can someone tell me how to fix this problem can? Because that's really annoying in the game.
