Ryzen 7 3700x or Intel Core i5 9400f?

Since I'm not satisfied with the performance of my i5 9400f, I'm considering switching to the Ryzen 7 3700x. I want to play Fortnite and stream at the same time, unfortunately that doesn't work so well with my current one.

Is it worth the change?

The Ryzen 7 3700x is much more suitable for streaming. You just need a new mainboard. The MSI B450 Gaming Plus Max would fit. Or even a B550 board.
