Upgrade PC or build a new one?

These are my main PC components (finished PC):

-intel core i5 8400

- 8GB DDR4 RAM

-GTX 1070

-240GB SSD

The question is whether I should upgrade the PC (bought 2 years ago) or build a new one myself, because I want to stream Fortnite and Warzone with good FPS, which I can't do with my current PC (at 720p In Fortnite I get 30fps stream on Youtube a maximum of 60FPS (normal 140) and the textures load very late.

Ja

Your computer seems to be basically solid. I would at most upgrade the PC - so go to 16Gb Ram 3200Mhz + and replace the graphics card with a 1080 or 2060.

If you want to stream with your PC, you need a lot of power and a few cores. Something like a Ryzen 7 3700 (x). Then you would have to get another mainboard, which of course also costs money. And with RAM I would go to min. 16 GB go. You can optionally go on an RTX 2060 (Super) or an RX 5700 (XT), they do a good job for their money.

Upgrade RAM.

The PC is still good in itself, would only upgrade RAM and then you could use it for at least another year.

Try recording with NVENC when streaming in OBS.

Nvidia graphics cards have an extra chip for encoding video.

This means that your processor is less busy.

1070 to 1080 or 1070 to 2060 is not really a worthwhile upgrade.

Then you'd better wait for the new graphics cards to come in late 2020 or buy an RX 5700 XT right away.

Ja

The question is, how big is the budget - if that's open, I'd rather go for a 2070 Super - RTX simply because of the possibility of ray tracing.

So the first thing that matters is how you gamble or want to gamble. But in any case, the ram needs to be increased to 16GB. It is best to always buy the same one again. If it is a very slow ram, it is best to sell it and buy a 2x8GB kit fast ram again.

The CPU is absolutely sufficient for gaming. Even the next few years. You know, some gamers overestimate the CPU. If you mainly use your PC for gaming, the CPU only has to be so strong that it does not slow down the graphics card. And an i5 8400 certainly doesn't.

Then the graphics card. If you play on FullHD, the 1070 is beyond any doubt anyway. Even if you have a 144Hz monitor. However, for a WQHD 144 Hz monitor, it could be a little too weak.

But even so, I would currently consider upgrading my hardware, except for the Ram. Because this year a lot of new and better hardware is coming onto the market. So it says, if it is still possible, wait.

The only sensible processor on your platform for your purpose is the 9900k, which still costs around 500 euro. You get a ryzen + mainboard for less. Basically, you could throw a coin, what you should do, but I'm assuming that your mainboard is so bad that the 9900k can't really come into its own and the thing with upgrading is finally done! A 3900x would be really cool, you can operate it well with a 100 euro mainboard, but ram you also need a little more. However, I wonder if you would ONLY upgrade the ram now, would you not have much more fps anyway? Which ram did you use exactly?

rh

Jo, that would also be the first thing you should try, as long as the ram is not total garbage, like a 2x4GB kit, which runs at a maximum of 2400 mhz - in that case I would really give myself the upgrade, because you only throw bad money, good afterwards.

I don't know. Where can you look it up?

Download hwinfo. If you're lucky, everything will be there after installation
