Connect cell phone to controller?

I would like to connect my old PS3 controller to my phone with a cable to play Fortnite.

1. Question: Does this work in terms of software? Hardware-wise no problem with adapter cable.

2. Question: If yes: A controller does not use very little electricity. Is it harmful for the mobile phone if it is charged, because of Overheating or something.

I only know how to do that with an iPhone 11 and a ps4 controller. Simply press and hold the Share button and ps button at the same time until the controller flashes and then connect to the wireless controller in the mobile phone settings with bluetooth.
