I'm considering upgrading my CPU from an i79700 to an i99900. Is this particularly recommended in the area of Fortnite or is it an unnecessary expense? I'm particularly interested in game quality (FPS). GPU I have RTx 2080 Super.
I would have said that's enough for Fortnite. So no upgrade necessary, but if you still want it, more rarely hurts
The best thing to do is stop and if you want to play an i5 6600k is enough
It depends on what your expectations are, if you want to get more FPS in the small, single-digit range, then you should do it.
If you expect to get a significant, double-digit increase in FPS from this… Then you should leave it.
I'm just concerned with whether it would be worth it? Currently I have to set the graphics to medium to get 120-180 FPS. For me the question arises whether I can play better graphics and more FPS with the i9?
Fortnite is known for being poorly optimized, meaning the performance in this game is fundamentally miserable. A new CPU can bring you a little more FPS on your screen, but you have to decide for yourself whether it's worth it.
You will only get a minimal benefit from it, if it is ~ 5FPS more that should be a lot.
If you are so keen on more FPS you need a more powerful GPU and a suitable CPU, on top of that a monitor that can show you this extra performance without tearing.
You have to answer the question of whether it is worth it for yourself, you will not get a significant boost from an upgrade.
