Somehow I have the feeling that my PC is performing worse than expected?

I have the feeling that my PC is worse than it should be. In Fortnite, for example, I limited 120 FPS and still I sometimes have drops of up to 50 FPS. Settings everything on low. In CSGO I have 100-150 on medium / high settings and in Valorant on low 180 with drops down to 100.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2600X

Graphics card: AMD RX 5600 XT 6GB

RAM: 16GB DDR4 2666 MHz

Mainboard: ASUS Prime A320m-k

Can I do something there or is my PC not that good after all?

It has a slightly worse processor, but better RAM and has an average of 160-190 FPS and I almost 120. How does it work?

ca

The ram makes a lot of difference with Ryzen that is not like Intel…

Ryzen needs speed…

Ja

Which power supply do you have? If too few watts arrive, it comes down to performance.

ca

If too little arrives, it goes out.

Ni

550 watts

Ja

Nope. Not always

De

Maybe his GPU is overclocked?

bu

RAM = too slow

Power adapter? Too little watt?

Temperatures? Everything OK?

All factors that can affect FPS

Ja

Yes that is definitely enough.

Ni

Power supply has 550 watts

Temperatures around 50-70 degrees

ca

Always tell me a scenario where this is not the case. And if you can guess at the clock you can see what is wrong when it can already read FPS

Ni

I wanted to do it too, but it got so loud

Ni

So again 2 x 8GB?

Ja

Right

ca

No you only have 2666mhz… Ryzen likes over 3000mhz

Ni

So is it just the RAM?

De

Most of the time the drops come because of the CPU, because it can't keep up with rendering the image, for example on high settings, try everything on low

Ni

I've already.

ca

You can't tell from afar, there could be many factors but I noticed that you only have 2666mhz RAM that Ryzen doesn't like at all

Ni

Unfortunately I can't activate the boost mode because of the mainboard…

How about OC?

ca

Ehm what kind of MB do you have? So chipset?

De

Maybe he has a different model, maybe one that is overclocked at the factory

Ni

ASUS Prime A320m-k

ca

Have no experience with RAM oc there are sure to be YouTube tutorials…

Ni

Hmm

ca

Well, a garbage motherboard…: 0 the a320 chipset can't oc 😂

Ni

No, I can't overclock it because of my mainboard.

De

E.g. You have a Founders Edition and he might have a Gaming OC or something

ca

Yes, your mainboard is pretty bad…

Ni

So I can't change anything?

Ni

So there's nothing I can do about the FPS?

ca

Eh, without taking big money in hand, nothing no

Ni

Okay too bad then I have to deal with it

De

The only thing you could do is overclock it, then it's a little louder

De

It could also be that you are using single channel RAM, did you set the slots on 2 and 4?

Ni

GPU or CPU?

The slots would have to run in dual channel

De

GPU, and see if your RAM slots are on 2 and 4

Ni

Okay then I'll try again with overclocking, the RAM runs in dual channel

De

But don't overclock too much, it's best to download a benchmark for the GPU and see whether it crashes or runs normally.

And think if you put too much tension on it it gets hotter

Ni

Thank's for the Tipps! I should leave the CPU alone or should I overclock the graphics card with Afterburner right?

De

You can also overclock your CPU, but don't do too much.

E.g. If yours runs on 3.6 GHz then overclock at most to 3.8 or 3.9 GHz, i.e. At most 300 MHz higher

Ni

Oh my God…

I just saw that my RAM in single channel clocks at 1333 MHz even though I put the two bars on slot 2 + 4

De

Maybe a slot is not right there, 1333 mhz is very slow

Ni

I just screwed it on again and it should actually fit. According to GPU-Z, the RAM runs in single channel with 1333 MHz, Windows recognizes 16GB installed RAM and this is used to 30% (3GB of 16GB) in the task manager.

De

Does your mainboard have 4 ram slots?

Ni

No 2

De

Oh, find out if your mainboard uses Daulchannal

Ni

Yes use it

De

So the RAM wasn't in properly?

Ni

Actually I don't know why it only runs in the single channel…

De

Something must be there, normally it then runs automatically in the dual channel when both slots are occupied, does Cpu-z say single or dual? I don't know if you can set something like that in the bios, but I don't think it should go bormal by itself

Ni

CPU-Z has single with 1333 MHz

De

Ok, it will definitely be due to the single channel RAM

Ni

But it runs with DDR4
