Do you always have to left click to confirm build in Fortnite?

Hi why do I always have to press the keybind and left click instead of just the keybind when I want to build something? What do I have to do to end it

You always have to keybind + left click to build something.

Or have I misunderstood. You select the stairs / wall / floor / roof with the keybind and place it with a left click.

There's no other way.

I always have to press an extra left click, I'm sure it will work without it
