PlayStation microphone?

One question… My little brother played Fortnite while talking about his microphone (headset) with the other players. Then he closed the game and turned off the Playstation. Quite a long time later I saw that the microphone (headset) was still connected to the controller Was the microphone recording everything I said and did my brother's friends hear that? I mean the PlayStation was out?

When the Playstation was off nop.
