That doesn't work, and it's illegal
If you want to make sure that there's no malware involved, that's the only really promising option in such matters. Coding yourself is the only really promising option - C ++ should be able to help, but I don't assume that you will be willing to do it forever because of a skin changer long to learn about C ++, memory addresses, pattern scanning & the like, in order to then correctly overwrite them. Apart from that, this would be like a cheat, so you run the risk of being blocked for it afterwards - so think twice. Both skinchangers and 'real' cheats overwrite memory and are basically one and the same for an anticheat - if your skinchanger is recognized, you will be banned from cheating.
Otherwise - just in theory - a good game to start with is, for example, Cube 2: Sauerbraten. With the help of Cheat Engine and, for example, OllyDBG or others (there are two or three alternatives that unfortunately do not come to my mind) you will probably find the memory signatures after a day of intensive study. I guess that's where you should start. Before you can get your desired result, it will certainly take a few more months…
In short: if you are not a computer science freak, I would give it up. You will never get reliable sources in this area.
