A few years ago Aquaman was portrayed as a "joke figure" because his skills weren't particularly good, but after the film from 2018, which was also the "best" film from DC in terms of income, and Aquaman also in Fortnite happened (no, I don't play Fortnite, I just noticed it) he shouldn't be so unpopular anymore, because he also showed in the film that he is actually not just a joke, so I just wanted to ask if he was actually is still so unpopular these days or is finally getting its deserved recognition
His character in the film is based on a comic series from the 1990s, where Aquaman's character was changed into the tough guy (but the idea was quickly discarded in the comics). For me Aquaman has never been a joke, but if you know this series of comics, Aquaman is (mostly) no longer a joke anyway, if she was at all. If you only know the films, series and games now, then it is more understandable that Aquaman is / was viewed as a joke, which I think was also eradicated with the film.
