I've had extreme internet problems for about a week. Namely, we have a telecom contract with 100Mbits per second and according to our Fritzbox router I should get 70mbits, but when I play Fortnite or other games I always have a bad connection. Therefore I always did a speed test and there was always about 7-20 ping, 2-6 download and 20-26 upload. Does anyone know why the Internet is extremely bad, and this is not only true of my PC but also of the smartphones and another PC with a LAN cable.
You may have a contract with this service, but it is possible that this speed can't be achieved at your address. Go to Telekom and use your address to check the connection. In the worst case, you can cancel and change providers. Before you make a new contract: Always check the connection. In this industry every employee only thinks of his commission.
PS: You can certainly check it yourself in the Telekom app. If that's too much for you, head to the shop.
Did you confuse up and down? The numbers would be more appropriate.
A ping of 7-20 is not bad, on the contrary, it is very good.
As far as the speed of the tests is concerned, the contract is often given in M- "BYTE" as "BIT".
Furthermore, many speed tests go to the moon. I find the "how is my ip.de" very meaningful that I would suggest to you.
Ping! = Speed
Other devices in the network that download a lot? Router restarted (power gone for a minute)?
Otherwise call the hotline and report the problem.
I did the Ookla speed test and no, I didn't mix it up
Then do the other. And please always state whether you measured bit byte mega or kilo. Otherwise you just get confused.
I've been downloading a lot lately
We live in a village where there's no store, but neighbors have good internet and we can reach 1000 mbits per second.
It's all about whether it is being downloaded right now, if you download it loads the entire line, so if you gamble and download at the same time, it causes lags. So issue download while gambling.
Something is wrong here.
according to our Fritzbox router I should get 70mbits
100mbit / s downstream should arrive in the router! (often shown 100,000 kbit / s) Exactly what your contract says.
if only 70 mbit / s arrive, call Telekom.
Speed tests are senseless labor of love. The DSL speed is called up in the router.
That is the first question when you wg. Line problems call "which DSL speed is in the router platform." Only then is the employee made a speed test.
But if you have 100mbit / s it is not DSL but your network at home.
But that shouldn't be a problem with lan and Wi-Fi.
So first open the router platform and look at the values
At first I hardly understood anything but the Fritzbox says that 70mbits should arrive on my Pc via Wi-Fi
Well, not quite
You see the value 70Mbit / s with the PC but on the FB. The Wi-Fi is only for watching, so it has hardly anything to do.
That means you are already missing 30Mbit / S downstream on the router.
But the upstream?
For explanation
The FB is at your home, so it is really relevant. Not like a speed test somewhere near you (hopefully) where the DSL distributor arrives. The remainder of the old copper wire, which is really relevant, is missing for the FB.
Do you call the Telekom, say I have too little DSL speed, he asks, only 70 instead of 100.
If you still have questions, I'm just not on the hotline.
I think that we should take a look at your connection together, as you can also reach these values via LAN. Without this test, I would have suspected a faulty Wi-Fi connection that was being affected by something on site.
To do this, I need your personal customer data via our contact form: https://www.telekom.de/...ecked=true
Thank you in advance for your feedback.
