I noticed a little that many younger children and teenagers play Fortnite (9-15 years).
I find that incomprehensible. The game is contaminated with microtransactions, meanwhile only ten-year-olds feel like playing this game. The physics is unrealistic, and I also find the colors clipped.
What makes this game so attractive for younger people?
It costs nothing.
It's free and it's a "cartoon"
You don't see any blood etc
Exactly the aspects that you have listed contribute to this.
The big studios have entire teams that only care about how a game is more attractive for the target group.
In addition, it is the competition, we adults are in a battle royale ourselves and always want to be the best, achieve a lot and be successful, we no longer notice how we transfer the performance society to our children.
Grades in school, it starts when they are babies, whoever crawls first, worth saying the first word, etc.
It runs like a thread.
A game on "life and death" only one can win there's exactly where you can identify.
I guess it is partly due to the graphics because it is child-friendly. Many well-known Youtubers have also started to introduce this game on their channels, which quickly made the game known to the younger target group.
With microtransactions you can't buy any game advantages but only change your appearance (except in Fortnite Save The World).
The only small advantage is with e.g. Green skins with which you can camouflage yourself very well.
I think I can answer this well because I played it myself.
You don't play the game alone. The game is free and has crossplay, so connect friends, it creates teamwork and used to be really fun (Season 2 - 7).
The graphics are good and it didn't let us go.
