What does that mean at Fortnite in the beginning?

Before the Battle Royale starts, you always come to this "world". You can also collect weapons and shoot someone down but you don't die. Does that bring anything (see picture) or nothing? And what does this mean 20?

It doesn't work. This '' world '' is there so that you almost always get 100 players together. This 20 stands for 20hp pity, which was inflicted on you by the other player.

In order for a round to start, a few dozen to almost a hundred players have to be found. Until all of them have joined the match, the remaining players wait in the 'lobby'. So that you don't just stare at a dull matchmaking screen for minutes, there's the option to warm up in time.

Without having played Fortnite, based on position and logic in number, I would conclude that this is the damage that the attack just did / would have caused.
