Fortnite lies with RTX 2060 6GB?

I got a pc 3 years ago with a GT 1030 and a 4x i5-6400 2.70Hz at Christmas, then I got an rtx 2060 oc 6gb and saw only minimal improvements, I can't even play Fortnite in 1600x900 in 60fps and if I go into the nvidia control panel and there's something that supposedly improves my performance (which doesn't bring much for me), my pc gets warm quickly. I now have the guess that my pc is just too old.

What would you advise me to do, or do you know what that could do?

ka

Maybe your pc just gets too warm.

download coretemp and GPU-Z and see how warm the graphics card and CPU get while playing…

otherwise you may also have inserted the graphics card in the wrong slot, many mainboards have two → use the upper slot here.

Sh

I plugged the graphics card into the upper slot and this small cable on the side is also in there it would have to be an 8er cable, but I have a 6er and a 2er and the lower slot does not fit in because the cable for the ssd is in the way

al

It may well be that there's a bottleneck between the CPU and GPU.

Sh

8 gb

ka

Okay should be connected correctly, as I said look at the temperature of your CPU and your graphics card. When the PC is old, the thermal paste between the fan and CPU sometimes dries out and it is no longer adequately cooled.

Sh

So are the laggs due to the heat?

ka

May or may not be. You can't say a flat rate.

Sh

Can I set something so that the pc does not get too warm but I can still play 60 fps

Pa

Clearly a CPU problem… The CPU is quite old and at that time was only at best middle class.

Sh

Which cpu should I get? I would be able to spend 200 euro by April and at least 500 euro by the end of the year. I know that I can get the i9-9900k at the end of the year but I think it's worth it because of my mainboard and so not. Or do you think I should upgrade all parts immediately and if so what would you do with it

-Graphic card: RTX oc 6gb

-Processor: 4x i5-6400k

-Mainboard: MS-7971

-Power adapter: I unfortunately do not know the name but I know that it is net good and has 650 watts

Hard disk: ssd with 231gb

Housing: Sharkoon VG5-W

RAM: 8GB RAM

Pa

The problem is, you have to upgrade the board and RAM as well. It will be difficult with 200 euro.

And I would not recommend Intel, it may well be that with this year's AMD processors, Intel is definitely going past.

Sh

You could write me what i should get and i will try to get it later this year

Pa

At Intel I would currently only recommend the 9900K for absolute enthusiasts. But becomes very expensive with a high quality board. If you really want that, you can also buy a cheaper i5+ upgrade later.

For all other applications, however, an AMD processor + board is better.

If you can stand it, I would still wait to see what happens to Intel and AMD in the coming months regarding CPUs and, above all, sockets.

Or you can buy a mid-range setup with a B450 board and AMD 3600X, which you can keep for longer.

ka

You can watch several videos on Youtube. In my opinion it is not a ram or CPU problem, of course the CPU is no longer the newest but Fortnite is not the most demanding game either.

I think it's best to buy an AMD processor, but I think the game should run without problems.

→ here is a video with a worse graphics card but the same CPU.

ka

The best thing to do is to try what I tell you, say you look at how warm your CPU and GPU are, then you tell me the values and I can probably help you with that…

Pa

Okay, maybe you're right, I'm not exactly familiar with Fortnite's requirements. But frame rate problems for me mostly sound like CPU, especially if you have already turned down the settings anyway.

Sh

Accidentally clicked on not helpful sry for that. I have it in the upper slot and the CPU goes to 42 °
