For a few weeks now I have had low fps values in Fortnite even with low graphics settings, with the number fluctuating between 120 and 50 (limited to 120 fps). I wanted to find out which component was causing it, but the results confused me quite a bit. And although I have a GPU load of approx. 80% and a CPU load of approx. 50% on low graphics settings. If I then set the graphics settings to high, the graphics card is used to 100% and the CPU to about 70%. However, the fps drops to 40 fps on very high graphics settings. How can I improve performance?
Processor: Intel Core I7 7700
Graphics card: Nvidia Geforce GTX 1050 Ti
Motherboard: MSI Z390 - A PRO Intel
RAM: 16 GB Crucial
Definitely a better GPU.
Would upgrade to a 1660S, or 1660 TI.
If necessary also a 1650, but this is only suitable as a transition.
And how would that improve my performance then? And is my processor strong enough for this graphics card (GTX 1660 S)?
There's no such thing as strong enough, but there will certainly not be a bottleneck.
It would improve your performance in that you have more FPS.
Ok, thank you for the information. Do you know where you can currently buy the gtx 1660 S? And is it compatible with my mainboard?
As far as I know, these are compatible, yes.
You can just google it, then you can find out too.
These are available on eBay, for example.
Does it make a difference whether I buy Asus / Gigabyte etc?
The two components would work well together, but buying a graphics card is currently not intelligent, which is why I would advise you to use GeForce Experience to get as much performance out of the graphics card as possible, to check ingame whether there are things like anti aliasing or dlss (that at fortnite is bugged), which are still switched on, these costs a lot of performance, then you will definitely get some performance out of the old lady, also I would 'cap' the FPS to 60 because you can reduce the drops from 120 to 40 or the like feels very much, from 60 on there should be fewer drops.
(not intelligent because they are damn expensive right now)
