Moin, I want to get a new CPU and DDR4 Ram because my components are quite outdated.
Now the question is, will my PC do better in CPU heavy games or just work limited due to the bottleneck? Currently play a CPU Heavy game where the CPU usage is 100%.
Current CPU: i5 6400
GPU: Zotac GTX 960 2GB
Game Fortnite:
Play on low graphics and 1920x1080 resolution with about 80-100fps
You would have to upgrade both, only cpu will bring you some fps but not much, think the gpu should be just sticking to the 100th mark at the moment.

Bad restoration idea. Instead, you could simply buy a new CPU e.g. I7 6700 and if there's still some gravel, then a gtx 1060 6gb
So I currently have an i5 6400 and I want to upgrade to a Ryzen 5 3600 with DDR4 Ram as I still have DDR3 Ram
For fortnite, I definitely recommend choosing Nvidia graphics cards, even if they are not exactly good value for money.
For your RYZEN CPU, which is relatively good, I would get an RTX 2060, or maybe mid budget class gripping the 1660 or 1660ti
But you won't get more power with it.
