Fortnite lagging despite an under-challenged PC?

Ready-made PC from MSI. Ryzen 7 3700X - 3.6GHz, GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER, M2 SSD 512 GB, RAM Corsair Vengeance 2x8GB DDR4 4000, chipset AMD B450 …

Fortnite tried in PerformanceMode and also at the lowest settings. Including lower resolution.

Graphics card stays at 50 ° when the load is low. Total CPU at approx. 30%. Utilization of individual cores also quite moderate, with not even 40% visually in the task manager. 8 threads in use.

No other abnormalities.

It's just not going well!

Who still has ideas for me that could help my nephew? In which component could the bottleneck be? Or in which software or in which drivers could the worm still be? I'm at my wits end.

Wa

Where did you connect your monitor cable? To the mainboard or to the graphics card?

no

This is due to the engine. So theoretically you are in a CPU bottleneck, but that is only forced by setting everything to the lowest possible level.

There's not much you can do because the engine can't parallelize all of the processes perfectly.

Ma

How does it go with the highest 3d resolution, I've read that many people have problems with it when the 3d resolution is too low.

ky

Very nice question. 😊 Of course on the graphics card. But you never know…

ky

Unfortunately not better. Already tried. Not the highest but much higher.

ky

It often runs much smoother on other PCs with less power. So Ryzen 5 and worse graphics card. How do you explain that to yourself?

Wa

Can you run a superposition benchmark only for the graphics card on 4k optimized and tell me the number after the test is complete? 🤗

no

Is that really the case?

How bad is it for you and how well is it with the worse systems?

ky

It's not with me but with my nephew. His colleague plays very smoothly with a notebook with Ryzen 5 and a mobile 1070 graphics card without any lags.

ky

I'll get you in the way.

no

Ok, of course you'd have to do a few things now.

Benchmarks of the game in different settings. Then you look at the results and analyze it. That way you can find the problem very quickly.

Remote diagnosis is rather difficult.

ky

We have already done a few benchmarks, but could not find any abnormalities. Which benchmark do you recommend?

The last benchmark attested the system's expected to higher performance for all hardware components. I don't remember which one…

no

Well, best of all Fortnite. So you run MSI Afterburner on the side and look at the load, clock rates, average FPS and 1% lows. Then you can usually see why.

ky

Everything already done. Let everything run on the side. Afterburner, task manager, resource monitor. Everything inconspicuous. Unfortunately.

Graka at not even 50 °. Hardly any utilization. Maybe it creates difficulties?!

Ma

I'm sorry, then unfortunately I don't know what to do next.

Ra

Maybe this is also due to the internet connection?

ky

Unfortunately, probably not either. Colleague has no problems with notebook in the same network.

Ra

Then I would suspect the monitor. Is VSync on (fps lock)? Perhaps the monitor has too much input lag for fast video games, i.e. The LEDs do not switch the image quickly enough and the graphics card comes to a standstill because it is already delivering images that the monitor is not yet showing.

ky

Is a quick new monitor. 144Hz? Or even higher? I'm not sure. Have also limited the FPS in Fortnite. V-sync is normal off but has already been tested on.

Wa

And how is it? 🤗

ky

Is my nephew's pc. Do not know if he has already tried it.
