If your PC has "2 headset plugs" and you tell at the same time that one connection with headphones, the other with a microphone symbol, then you contradict yourself.
Based on your question, I suspect the following: You have a headset that has a 4-pin plug - in which the functions of the microphone and headphones are combined. Since it is only 1 plug, it therefore only fits in one socket. This is because most laptops have a combo port (it would work there).
Now you have separate sockets on the PC. Then you need an adapter for your headset like this one (you then plug one into the headphone input, the other into the microphone input):
