It says I have downloaded it from the Epicgames site and mine
E-mail entered then I should actually have it
but it does not appear on my start screen or anything else and neither does it play or anything

You have to download the launch, log in there and then go to the library. You can then download it there

You have to download it from the library. Owned does not mean installed, just that it is yours.
