No progress is gone. Once logged out, the account is deleted directly. Otherwise, accounts would not make sense.

Yes you have an ID when signing up for PlayStation network you can use this or your e-mail address. Then enter the password and you are logged in again. This works with all accounts such as Facebook, Instagram or even with good Frage.net
