Fortnite with a CD on X box without gold?

I bought a CD from Fortnite saying "contains the free version of Fortnite Battle Royal" and now the X Box says I need X Box Gold to play Fortnite

Feel like you have any ideas

To play with the xbox one fortnite you unfortunately need xbox live gold.

You do not need the cd because there's a free download of Fortnite. The cd is only there to collect. It is best to return the cd and get a gold membership
