I bought an upgrade PC about 1 year ago and have now replaced everything except the CPU and the mainboard.
Do we now come to the question?
My mainboard is the Asus Prime A320M-K and I would like to take the Ryzen 7 3700x as a new CPU. The CPU also has an AM4 socket, but I would like to know if the CPU on the board works smoothly
It's always a question of what the mainboard can endure (like voltage converters.). I would take a good B450 board in your case.
It may even be that the 3rd generation is not supported at all, but I'm not so sure about it ^^
I already have the Asus Prime A320M-K.
Here please
Processor support according to the Asus website:
asus.com/de/Motherboards/Prime-A320M-K/HelpDesk_CPU/
The Ryzen 7 3700x is listed there
Edit: Could it be that the support was upgraded via a bios update?
And if so, would the processor also work smoothly?
Funny that it is listed there… Maybe it would work theoretically. But I would buy myself like a b450 board, just because of voltage converters. Problems could arise due to insufficient cooling.
@ Zombi300 I already have the Asus Prime A320M-K in my range and did not want to buy a new one. Are you sure about the lack of cooling? The cooler is connected to a 4pin on the mainboard (at least with my current one)
I don't mean cooling. Above and to the left of the base are heat sinks correct? This is the VRM (voltage converter) cooling.
It should work. But is not recommended.
Hotter voltage transformers can occur.
I would read about it again carefully because I can't give you a correct answer because of my confusion. I'm sorry.
@ Zombi3000 I can't find anything more specific about it anywhere. I would definitely not overclock the processor. I found a video about the Ryzen 9 that should help:
@ Zombi3000
First of all, many thanks for the help so far. I once organized a picture of the base, but unfortunately I have no idea how I attached it, but you can find it easily by clicking "Asus Prime A320M-K" in the Google browser and clicking on pictures click (to see the voltage transformers)
Thanks for the video. I'm sorry, because I can't tell you about voltage transformers. That really limits my knowledge. But the video is really interesting, then you can see that the clock is a tick lower on the a-board than on the others.
You have to watch what you take. Yes, overclocking is unfortunately blocked for them…
Still please.
