I once asked myself whether Fortnite can take over the characters from all the different games? Be it Masterchief (Halo), Kratos (God of War) etc.

Somewhere these are their own "products" that have rights.

So how does Fortnite get the rights to this?

They negotiate that with those who have the rights to the characters and then buy this right with the money they earn through the small children who buy the VBucks.
