Fortnite performance mode Alpha?

There's a new performance mode in Fortnite.

when I activate it, however, my other settings such as shadows disappear. Can I activate the mode somehow and see that my other settings remain?

You can't because the goal of the performance mode is to get as much power as possible and things like shadows "unnecessarily" draw power, so that's not possible
