I ordered a graphics card and a screen for my old computer. Still, I have little fps in fortnite, for example?

I would like to know if any of you know why that could be.

I always thought that you only need a good graphics card to play.

My data to the PC (hardware):

Processor: Intel Core i3-4160 3.6 GHz

8 GB RAM

GPU: nvidia gtx1060 6gb

Windows 10

CPU fan is standard on intel

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-H81M-D2V with 1150 socket

I had already thought that the CPU slows down the graphics card.

Could someone help me, thanks!

Je

All parts are crucial for the speed of a PC. So may be due to the CPU.

Thank you for your prompt reply!

What would you recommend to me then?

Does the screen have Full HD?

Actually everything should work.

Install MSI Afterburner and look at all workloads and temperatures.

Here is the list of CPUs your motherbard supports

however, you will not be able to buy some of them anymore.

Your CPU has only 2 cores / 4 threads, which is not enough for many current games front and back.

I recommend you to swap the CPU with an i7-4xxx, which then has 4 cores / 8 threads.

Your graphics card is great, which is only slowed down properly by the i3.

Update: For example, the i7-4770 would be optimal, see https://cpu.userbenchmark.com/...2816vs1978

But Fortnite would still have to run! On my old PC with AMD HD 7770 and Phenom ii 925 is the CPU at 90%, the graphics card at 100%, sometimes it comes through the CPU to Framedrops. But the i3 is much better, so it should work. The problem may be different.

Ok, first of all, thank you for your answer! So now I have two options available.

Either I get a CPU from the 4 generation, which then just fits on the base of 1150. Or I can then buy a processor of the newer generation, but then I would have to buy a motherboard with 1150 socket to do so. What would you say?! If I would then opt for a processor of the newer generation, it would be worth it at all, or you noticed there to z.b. The processor you have suggested to me no difference?

If you get an i7-4xxx for under 100 EUR, that makes sense. (+ 80% CPU power)

Alternatively, you can get new motherboard + Ryzen 2600 + 16 GB DDR4 RAM, which is of course much better, but then also costs 350-400 EUR. (+ 200% CPU power)
