I currently have a Ryzen 5 1600x acquired 3 months ago. I have run this stable at 4100 Ghz. To 99% I play Fortnite, also competitive. On my favorite graphics settings I have 144hz stable. So there's still room for improvement.
Now the 3000 are out and after some test videos, I wonder if I should upgrade to a R5 3600 (if he lands below 200 euro).
Actually, the FPS but on principle enough for the gene. Gear up?
My specs:
R5 1600x
MSI ARMOR GTX 1070
2x 8gb RAM 2666Mhz OC → 3200Mhz
MSI B350 PC MATE
Bequiet! Shadow Rock Slim
550W power supply
HP OMEN 25 144hz
I would say that the graka is the bottleneck.

If you have your constant 144 FPS, I see no reason to upgrade the system. The Ryzen 5 1600X is sufficient for virtually any game in Full HD, mostly limited since the GPU. And it's not really worth it for Fortnite. Since the CPU is bored anyway, rather limited by the GTX 1070.
The 1600x is not bad now.
It is obviously sufficient for your requirements. I would keep the 1600x… And if you just want to retool and whim then wait until the prices have settled down.
