Poor performance despite good hardware in games?

First my hardware:

Gigabyte Rtx 2070

Ryzen 7 3700X

2x8 GB RAM Corsair Vengeance

6 fans

MSI X 570 motherboard

500W power supply

Despite the good system, I have very poor performance in games like Fortnite. On the weakest settings I only get ø 120FPS. The temperatures are all okay and there are no programs running in the background.

Does anyone have a tip on how I can change this? It shouldn't be because of the game, because a buddy of mine comes to 250FPS with a much weaker system. The RAM is not in the dual channel, otherwise my PC won't work (does anyone have an idea?). I'm not sure whether it is due to the power supply, since the Gigabyte Rtx 2070 requires at least 550W according to the manufacturer. Maybe this clocks down?

Otherwise I don't really have an idea anymore. Software reset, FPS boosts etc. I've already done everything without success.

Thank you for your help.

PS, please do not write anything like: from 80fps you see no difference anyway…

I may not be an electronics engineer / computer scientist, but from a little googling just now, the RTX 2070 has a max. TDP of 175 watts (without OC). Did you overclock the graphics card with MSI Afterburner or something similar? That would change a lot? Are the latest graphics drivers installed? But in everything, as you said, this is just about calculated. You didn't write a brand for the power supply. I hope not a device for 20 euro from the Far East, because these things sometimes give up at their limits!

I can hardly imagine that with the RAM that it is because of it. Even if they don't run in dual channel, it shouldn't be a problem for Fortnite or similar. Have you ever looked in the BIOS at which clock frequencies the sticks run or general settings. With MSI motherboards this shouldn't be a problem at all! In which slots do you have the bars? The slots are specified for dual-channel! Have you ever looked for the BIOS version, whether it is still current? Otherwise the CPU cooler would be an idea, maybe it is not on it properly, has bent pins or is simply too tight!

If you have actually technically tried all possible software, it can only be due to the hardware or its setting. Incidentally, FPS boosters are not always the yellow of the egg.

Otherwise it would only be the "standard" problems such as insufficient memory in general

First, thanks for the answer. I have the sticks in the 1st and 2nd slot. I know that it should actually be the 1st and 3rd, but as I said, the PC just doesn't turn on. How can I control the CPU cooler? This is the standard cooler from AMD. The Wraith Prism (or something)

Oh and the power supply is from BeQuiet

You just said dual channel does not work and not in what way it does not work. No matter! Did you only try it once with the dual channel or something? The "failure to turn on" of the computer is mostly due to the fact that the memory is not recognized correctly. Were the sticks in the slots correctly and did "CLICK"? Beginner mistakes when building a PC…

The cooler should not be screwed down with all force! Slightly hand-tight without much pressure is enough! Sometimes it happens that too much force from the cooler to CPU pins or the like bends. That would explain things. But before you take action on the cooler, you should check the other things. If you really don't have much knowledge of hardware (for you, I don't know), you should remove some things like the processor or not. First check the rest of the things I wrote: graphics drivers (GeForce Experience), overclocking, FPS limit in the game, V-Sync / G-Sync?

And beQuiet is a good brand! There are programs that can measure your electricity consumption. Check it out! Or if you have a device for it, it makes it easier!

So I know my way around relatively well. I already had the processor outside, pins are all okay. With the dual channel I mean rather that it does not run optimally. First the 1st and 3rd slot is "called", then the 2nd and 4th! For me it is just the case that the PC only starts up when I use the 1st and 2nd slot. There's no other way. The stick was also 100% right.

Then a message appears that says something in English that the RAM is not optimally used and I should take the 3rd slot instead of the 2nd, just does not work.

Can you name a program where I can have something measured?

ba

You can only put the cooler on it, which means that I can't adjust the strength

is the first search result, I haven't tried it but there are some

and the RAM: those were the problems that often occur, I don't know what exactly is going on with your PC… I'm sorry
