Does it make sense for me to limit the FPS?

I like to play Fortnite but only have a 75 Hertz monitor and yes. Before you comment on "Do V-Sync", give it a try and you will not be able to play normally.

So, when I limit to the next higher 120 FPS, I often have drops down to 70 which makes it feel very laggy. When I go to unlimited I have around 150-180 FPS and drops down to around 90.

Does it make sense to leave it at unlimited?

Turning it down mainly makes sense to save electricity, which is important for laptops on the go.

The game "thinks" in frames, the more frames, the more precisely or more often the movements of the character or the opponent are calculated. Turning it down too far makes it "laggy", as you have already noticed.

Should I use Freesync?

Ca

Why not? This should optimally adapt the frame rate to the monitor and then you have the best possible picture. The frame rate is then still high enough that it does not "lag".

The difference is minimal and many monitors are incompatible so give it a try and if you don't like it you can always turn it off.

Do you mean V-Sync? If so

Before you comment on "Do V-Sync", try it out and you will not be able to play normally.

Sry, wrongly answered again. Should the answer to your comment be. Should I use Freesync?
be, not a new post.

Ca

V-Sync is supposed to prevent that the picture is changed "in the middle". This then leads to moving objects being "torn apart".

But at high frame rates you don't really see it, so it's not as important as it was with 60Hz screens. In addition, this can cause completely different problems depending on the graphics card.

I once had a Thinkpad where the game even crashed when you turned it on and the next thinkpad only showed flickering "Hackepeter" if you hadn't turned it on.

So always try out whether your graphics card likes, needs or "hates" V-Sync.

My system hates V-Sync and the input lag feels like 1 second
