I have a 144Hz monitor, an i7-9700F processor and a GTX 1660 Ti graphics card. I want to know how much FPS I can achieve in Fortnite with these devices. Does 144Hz actually mean that I can reach a maximum of 144 fps? Or is there more? Unfortunately I'm not familiar with FPS and HZ.
You can achieve more FPS, but it does not help you because only 144 FPS are displayed on the monitor.
To use 144hz you need stable 144fps or more.
With VSync you can limit this to 144 fps… But you can also play at 390fps - as you like?!
Exactly, you can see a maximum of 144 frames per second on your monitor, i.e. 144 FPS.
If you now had an RTX 2080, the graphics card would perhaps achieve 244 FPS, which would mean that you would see 144 of them on the monitor and the remaining 100 would end up in the trash.
If you activate VSYNC in the game, or if there's an FPS limit of 144 in the game, the graphics card generally only makes 144 FPS and may take a little rest in between. 😉
My tip: Only set the details in your games to Medium - High, so that you can achieve at least 120 FPS with the relatively tight GTX 1660 Ti. 👍
If a monitor has 144 Hz, it means that it can only display 144 FPS!
So your graphics card can produce 2 billion FPS, your monitor shows you only 144 FPS. It is best if you limited to 144 FPS, then your graphics card does not have to do unnecessary work, stays cooler and may also live longer xD
And sometimes you can prevent streaks, but it's up to the monitor…
