Screen tearing then gone again?

Yesterday I played Fortnite on my new PC, only have a 60 Hz monitor and therefore had screen tearing. Today I made a few Windows updates then gambled Fortnite and suddenly it was gone someone knows why? I haven't changed anything

Jo

60Hz monitors tear at high frame rates, usually starting at 90fps. Maybe your performance has decreased due to the update, otherwise just set a limit to 60, then you are safe.

On new PCs it can happen quite often at the beginning that updates are loaded in the background, which affect the performance. You should limit the usage time of the computer or set it accordingly so that updates are downloaded and installed at night if possible. The computer must not be switched off for this. It should be in sleep mode at night. It uses less electricity than an orientation light.

Ma

I set it to 60 fps, but still have slight tearing

Jo

Yes, exactly 60 is usually not good either - take 59 or 61.

Ma

Where is the point? And how can I set 59?

Jo

Explaining that would exceed the number of characters allowed. You set either 59.97 or 60.97 frames so that you don't have a linear frame time to help the monitor with the selection process. This gives the monitor 0.03 frames to choose an image instead of 0.00 frames.
