Why do parents react normally when their children play Fortnite 24 hours a day?

Why do so many parents accept it? And with such young children…

Es

It is easier than stressing out that forbidding the child to do what they would like to do.

Ra

They're lost. Young children can't develop emotions or self-confidence from playing too much, and that affects later life!

co

I wonder about that too. How often do I read that children sit and play in front of the screen all day. If I were a mother, that would be out of the question. But when I think about how my little brother is always begging and suddenly is the dear, nice son when he can't play, then I understand some parents if they don't want to be annoyed by the child around the clock, but still that's not good.

Jo

Bad parents? I have no idea, I suspect, many do not know this or believe that the children get to know others through it. I don't think that's right. With other games this is critical, but with Fortnite boxing should help if parents read this.

Ra

You shouldn't even give something like that into the hands of the children! My brother is 6 and is on the tablet EVERY DAY. If you take it away from him, he will cry!
Also, he has no self-confidence, which is what will come of it! The children can't develop emotions. Laughing, crying or mastering many new situations is incredibly important at a young age!

Te

Source for the claim? Or receipts?

co

Right. I now see babies with cell phones in hand because their parents use them as a distraction. Watching a few films is all well and good, but today's toddlers are constantly on some kind of device. If I had a child that would be out of the question. Packing a television into the room for children and that they have cell phones, laptops, tablets and consoles before they are even teenagers, I find it not at all okay and I wonder why people are surprised that children believe less and less in themselves. From an early age they see ideals of beauty that are not attainable or something similar. Some parents don't think so far, but are happy for the moment because there's peace.

ma

Lol, I installed Fortnite to see if something had improved, and came into the lobby with two 6-7 year olds and a French guy and a child said he was allowed to gamble 24 hours a day.

Ra

In my eyes, such parents fail. Unfortunately, my parents are one of them.
I'm guaranteed not to be such a father. Keep telling my dad or cousin that too, because they recently had children too. I would advise you too!

Co

I'm allowed to gamble 24/7, I'm allowed to do it more often as long as school is running and I also do other things

Te

And do you believe that in a 6 year old? And from one person's assertion, you infer "many parents"?

ma

You have no idea how many toddlers spend their time in front of the Fortnite creative mode menu.

Te

I have 3 children (2, 5, 7 years). Hardly any child under 3 years of age (that's exactly what toddlers are) plays a PC… You have a statement from 1 (!) 6 year olds. Who has no idea now?

Te

He has a statement from a single 6-year-old as the basis for the claim… And that's why he thinks "many" parents do that…

Because it is so. Take a look around outside when parents are out and about with their children in strollers. In every second you will find a cell phone with the child. At home, the children are less likely to play with toys than to watch films and series on the tablet or television.

Te

I don't know where you live, I see enough children in prams here because we go to the playground almost every day. But a cell phone in the stroller… No result

co

Well then maybe that's the way it is in your area, but I've seen it in all kinds of cities and not just in front of the door. There's also a lot to read on the Internet.

Over 70 percent of children between the ages of two and three use their parents' smartphone for up to half an hour a day. - https://focus-arztsuche.de/magazin/gesundheitstipps/digitale-medien-so-koennen-sie-kinder-krankmachen

Te

And the question was why "many" parents let their young children play Fortnite 24 hours a day. According to a single allegedly 6-year-old. Not 30 minutes or longer on the cell phone - that was never mentioned here

co

Yes, most youngsters also play for more than half an hour. I also have two cases in my family who sit in front of the screen all the time and that's not only the case in my family.

According to a recent survey, more than 40 percent of Germans play computer and video games. In the age group of 14 to 29 year olds, the proportion of video gamers is even over 70 percent. (2019) - https://de.statista.com/themen/1095/gaming/

Te

Yes, I think 6-year-olds are only phantasy for 24 hours at a time

co

I think that was also a bit exaggerated but half a day is safe for some.

ma

Infants are children up to 6. 3 years old can still be described as babies
